Food Ordering Agent

Multi-platform UX design, 0-1 AI product design and launch

A multimodal AI food ordering system for mobile, kiosk, and drive-thru platforms

Overview

As the UX Design Lead for Google’s Food Ordering Agent, I owned the design of an omnichannel agentic commerce platform for Quick Service Restaurants. Moving beyond the limitations of traditional chatbots, Food Ordering Agent is a purpose-built voice AI agent engineered for the high-volume, high-complexity realities of the food industry. Working with engineering, product, and research teams, I translate Google’s core voice technology into a multimodal customer experience adaptable across mobile, web, in-car systems, kiosks, and drive-thrus.

My core responsibility was to design white-label platform strategy, architecting a system that allowed for rapid scalability across diverse enterprise customers while maintaining brand-specific nuances. Beyond the consumer interface, I oversaw the end-to-end design of an enterprise management console. This tool empowers quick service brands to customize their agent’s persona, manage intricate menu logic, and monitor system performance in real-time, effectively bridging the gap between complex AI backend capabilities and intuitive business controls.

Today, this technology powers the ordering experiences for industry giants like Wendy’s and Papa Johns. Currently available to over 130 million customers worldwide, the platform has successfully processed more than 36 million orders, proving the viability of AI-driven commerce to handle real-world demand.
